The Sokoto Zonal Operations Controller, Mr Mohammed Makera, made the disclosure when he addressed newsmen in Sokoto on Tuesday.
Makera, who gave an update on the fuel supply situation in the zone, said that five of the sealed stations were in Sokoto State, while three were in Kebbi.
He said the sealed filling stations were sold the product at between N105 per liter and above.
Makera said that the affected filling stations were fined N100,000 each, while their products were sold at government approved pump price of N86.50.
The controller said that the department was partnering with the Department of State Services to stop filling stations from operating at night.
"Some of them were in the habit of dispensing products in the night after our officials have closed from work by 6 p.m.
"DSS operatives will henceforth be assisting us by carrying out surveillance on all the 609 filling stations currently licensed in the two states.
"DPR will use such intelligence reports to appropriately sanction any erring filling stations in the two states,’’ he said.
Makera assured that the department would always strive to ensure that motorists get value for their money whenever they purchased petroleum products.
